Gable ends and dormers are triangles: figure each one as half the base times the height and add it in before you order. Two gables on an ordinary house can add another square or two, and the cost goes up in proportion.

An average of 21 sq ft per door and 15 sq ft per window is close enough for ordering material, and measuring every opening on a house takes an afternoon. A patio slider or picture window is bigger than the average, so measure those and adjust the total by hand.
